Brenda Ullrich is a Zimbabwean artist currently based on the Isle Wight.
A visual artist using a variety of techniques, from thin washes to thick impasto;
the creation of texture on the canvas is of utmost importance to the artist.
Brenda employs paint to create a sense of illusion for the viewer and to create a
feeling of strong presence which, in itself, is a contradiction

Ullrich's work does not fit rigidly into either figuration or abstraction with no
denial of either category. She continues to explore ways to link abstract and
realistic painting approaches; both are there and help to form a tension within
the work. A kind of contradiction like Jonathan Coe's “The Rain before it Falls”
